FIERY GRANOLA
Give your granola a boost with cayenne! This simple recipe adds a hint of spice to balance the sweetness, making it perfect for the springtime shift.
Cayenne and cinnamon bring a mild kick to this less-sweet-than-store-bought granola.
Ingredients
1 cup oats
1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
1/4 cup cacao nibs
1/4 cup coconut flakes
1/4 cup maple syrup or honey (adjust slightly more or less depending on your sweet tooth)
1/4 cup oil (I like olive oil but grapeseed or sunflower oil would work, too)
big pinch of salt
pinch of cayenne
pinch of cinnamon
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
In a large bowl, combine the oats, nuts (if including) cacao nibs, coconut flakes, salt, cayenne, and cinnamon.
Mix in the oil and maple syrup or honey. Combine well and spread onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
Bake for 7-10 minutes or until golden, stirring every few minutes. Enjoy with yogurt or cottage cheese, in a smoothie bowl or by the handful!
