SPICED HOT CHOCOLATE

Chocolate is my go-to treat, and while I enjoy many forms, I often gravitate toward spiced hot chocolate as a deeply satisfying and nourishing pick-me-up. Think of this Spiced Hot Chocolate recipe as a tonic for an even more enjoyable experience!

Ashwagandha is rich in antioxidants and supports healthy immunity, pairing beautifully with chocolate. Turmeric offers anti-inflammatory benefits, kindles agni, and helps mobilize cleansing energy in the body. A dash of cayenne adds some heat while stimulating and balancing Kapha.

Feel free to get creative with spices! Ginger and cardamom are great additions, so add whatever sounds good to you!


Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk of choice

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 1 1/2 tbsp raw cacao (approx 20g)

  • 1-2 tsp maple syrup, jaggery or honey

  • pinch himalayan rock salt

  • 1/4 tsp ashwagandha powder

  • pinch turmeric

  • pinch cinnamon, nutmeg & cayenne pepper


Instructions

  1. Add milk, water and raw cacao to a pot and simmer gently while continuously whisking until cacao is blended in completely (do not allow to boil).

  2. Add sweetener of your choice, pinch of salt and spices.

  3. If you have a frother or a hand blender, use before pouring into your favorite mug to enjoy!
