An Ayurvedic Quiz for Skin, Body & Mind

In Ayurveda, true beauty begins with balance. Your dosha—a unique blend of the elements air, ether, fire, water, and earth—shapes everything from your energy and digestion to your skin type and emotional tendencies. When your dosha is in harmony, your inner and outer radiance naturally shine.

This 30-question Ayurvedic Dosha Quiz is designed to help you discover your dominant dosha—Vata, Pitta, or Kapha—and learn how it influences your skin, mood, and overall well-being. Whether your skin tends to feel dry and delicate, warm and reactive, or rich and oily, your dosha offers insight into what your body and mind are asking for.

At the end of the quiz, you’ll receive a personalized profile with Ayurvedic lifestyle tips and curated product recommendations for your skin type, featuring natural and botanical brands I love and use in my practice at Marma Holistic.

Take a few quiet moments, breathe deeply, and answer intuitively—what feels most true for you right now. Your skin is a reflection of your inner landscape. Let’s discover your rhythm.

lifestyle tips for healthy skin

  • Sattvic foods are fresh, wholesome, and nourishing. Think seasonal fruits and vegetables, mild spices that include all six tastes (rasas), and meals eaten within a few hours of cooking—these foods are said to bring contentment, clarity, and happiness. Have you noticed this in your own life?

Rajasic foods tend to increase restlessness and agitation in both body and mind. These include deep-fried foods, overly salty or spicy dishes, pickles, alcohol, and vinegar.

Tamasic foods create sluggishness, lethargy, and a sense of heaviness. Stale, processed, leftover, frozen, or overly rich foods—including heavy meats—can leave you feeling dull and “off.”

For radiant skin and balanced energy, favor sattvic options like almonds, milk, and avocado—they nourish your body and support a sense of lightness and vitality.

  • Sleep is the time when our body nourishes and regenerates itself, including rejuvenating our tissues and skin. Good-quality sleep leaves you waking up feeling fresh, alert, and energized—not sluggish or still drowsy.

To support restful sleep, it helps to have an early dinner to allow for digestion, and to unwind with calming activities like soft music, a warm bath, or a gentle oil massage. Avoid overly stimulating foods, activities, or screen time at night, as they can reduce sleep quality.

Both too little and too much sleep can be problematic—around 7–8 hours is ideal for most people. Long daytime naps can interfere with nighttime rest, though a short 10–20 minute nap can be refreshing. Practices like calming pranayama and sleeping on your right side can also promote a deep, restorative sleep.

  • In moderation, exercise boosts circulation, supports metabolism, and helps release toxins and impurities, keeping the skin soft, supple, clear, and radiant. It also tones the body and firms the skin. The dhatus, or bodily tissues, are strengthened, building stamina, vitality, and overall energy.

  • The virtues of yoga cannot be overstated. Even simple postures have a profound effect on the body, supporting all systems and organs to function efficiently, gracefully, and in balance. Asanas help harmonize imbalanced doshas, benefiting both the body and the mind by reducing stress and calming the nervous system—where true beauty and health begin. This balance enhances digestion, circulation, absorption, and elimination, cleansing and nourishing the tissues, with a noticeable effect on skin health and radiance.

  • It is said that we typically use only about 30% of our lung capacity. Skin health, vitality, and overall wellness depend on optimal oxygenation and circulation. The practice of pranayama—including ujjayi, alternate nostril (nadi shodhana), bhastrika, kapalabhati, brahmarī, śītalī, and śītkārī—helps increase prāna, or vital energy, throughout the body, allowing us to utilize up to 80% of our lung capacity. These practices also support the elimination of accumulated toxins through the breath, improving circulation, oxygen delivery, and detoxification.

Meditation complements this by stilling the breath and quieting the mind, creating deep relaxation while maintaining heightened awareness. Regular meditation reduces stress and calms the nervous system, which in turn supports balanced hormones, improved digestion, and enhanced cellular regeneration—key factors for radiant, healthy skin. By cultivating a calm, oxygen-rich, and energetically balanced state, meditation and pranayama together nourish both body and mind, promoting resilience, clarity, and natural glow.
